Nitin Sathya, Premji Amaran, Ajay, Vijay

The story is as old as that of the friends in 'Pudhu Vasantham'.  Director Sundareswaran has just a new presentation of the same.

Nitin Satya, Vijay and Premji are friends living in the same room.  Vijay and Premji are thoroughly worthless.  The former wants to become an

actor and the latter wants a Government job.  As Nitin alone is earning as an engineer, he lends a helping hand from paying the rent and

feeding the other two.

Ajay comes and joins as the fourth person.  His aim is to kill the person who loved his sister but cheated her.  It is consoling that the events

that are taking place in the lives of these people are narrated clearly without any confusion.

The director is very clever in having provided enough scope for all the four characters.  The antics that Vijay and Premji make after spending

the newcomer Ajay's money are enjoyed with whistles by the audience. Vijay earns our appreciation in acting when he, in Rajini's style, throws

the ball around and makes tall claims about his non-existent wealth to the girl friend.

Premji also shines in the scenes where he is heartbroken by rejection letters and day dreams about the house owner’s daughter.  Ajay who

roams about with a sickle in hand goes well with the rustic character.

Nitin has done well when he expresses the pressure of loneliness when he is separated from his beloved by destiny.  It is a joke that Jennifer

is given the role of a lawyer.  When she appears in the costume of a lover, she looks like a school going girl winning a fancy dress.

Besides her there are three heroines in the film and none of them measuring up to expectation. When the doctor describes the disease that

had affected Nitin on his head, we feel that he is going in for surgery.

For how long will they be using the clichéd climax when the girl says no to the guy who asks for dowry and finally marries the sweetheart for

his good character. This really is torture. So is the scene where Ajay tries to hunt for his sister's ex-lover with the help of a mere photo.

The songs "Kaadhal devathai" and "Adiye en annakkilli.." composed by Premji are sure to become hits.

If the illogical scenes and the drag in screenplay had been avoided, Thozha would have passed the test.
