  Ayudham Seivom

Sundar C., Anjali

"Violence is not the solution to problems," is Gandhiji's famous statement that director Udayan has used to base his story on. But Mahatma's soul will not be pardon the effort to sell the book 'My Experiments with Truth' through Malavika's kuthuthattam

Hero Sundar C is a mechanic who indulges in some fisticuffs now and then. For creating traffic problems, he is penalized by the court to spend 15 days in Gandhi Ashram at Madurai. As the comedy element, Vivek also sticks along with him.

At a place where they are sent as punishment, it is incongruous that the two of them have a rip roaring time, a bit of logic setback by the director.

Heroine Anjali makes her entry. For the sole reason that Sundar C spots her with no clothes on, she falls in love with him – a disastrous character.

After completing his stint, he gets back to his rowdy ways. The minister's primary focus is to get an important evidence from Vijaya Kumar, the upright lawyer, who is totally opposed to villain Manivannan. In a clash, Vijaya Kumar dies of wounds inflicted by a rod. His guilty conscience opens Sundar C's eyes. The evidence to indict the villain are destroyed by the henchmen, so he tries non-violent methods to fulfill Vijay Kumar's goals and the audience finally gets to relax.

Sundar C wants to ride on the action horse, but what happens when a child mounts a horse is what happens to him. His baby face with a moustache somehow does not suit his rowdy character. So background sounds of bashing up and graphics come to his aid to project him as an action hero.

The hero, in making Malavika's fan to read Gandhi's teachings, but refusing to change his rough ways, claiming that that there's a lot of distance between him and Gandhi, displays a bundle of contradictions.

There are many instance sin the film where police officers are made to look like comedians. There are 2 instances, one is where Napoleon is Asst Commissioner and the other is the heroine's dad who is a Deputy Commissioner.

To enter the Deputy Commissioner's house and sprinkle drug spray on his face blatantly could be passed off as comedy but Napoleon's character is what irks.

He is the younger brother of lawyer Vijay Kumar, who swears bravely in his opening scene that he will take revenge on the villain who killed his brother. But his courage starts failing after that. He's unable to distinguish conmen in police clothes and even shows his id that he's also a police officer and one can hardly contain one's laughter that this idiocy.

Such an important piece of evidence on a Cd that could put the ex-minister on the stand, is destroyed in the fire by the henchmen. Oh my God! In how many more films should we be subject to the same formula?

The true experiment with our patience is when Sundar C explains how he became a martyr justifying his doing a kuthattam with Malavika.

Fortunately Vivek's comedy is a relief in some places.

It would indeed be a happy scene when the general public supports a lone man fighting for a cause. When the society can't even protest against an ordinary Councillor's atrocities….

"Innum oru vaanum…," "moonu kaau muttaya…,"and "kandom kanndom…" composed by Srikant Deva are passable.

If Gandhi happens to see 'Ayudham Seivom,' he would turn his walking stick into a weapon!

Wow... Buss...
The director's smartness in using Gandhi, to make his money.

Sundar C's face not being suitable for an action hero.

Logic running haywire.
