Vijayakanth, Navneeth

Film characters like Vijayakanth are necessary to catch culprits who give police a merry chase. That's why Vijayakanth has again been cast in such a role, but this time, he's more stylish.

A series of murders of India's foremost scientists necessary for the country's development, takes place. Police officer Biju Menon is appointed to find out the reason for this. But by the time his flight reaches Chennai, he disappears.

The police department wrings its hands in puzzlement. The case comes to criminologist Vijayakanth. How he unearths the details behind the gruesome murders, forms the story.

The unexpected turn to the story is the fact that a plot by certain countries to destroy the brains behind a country's development could prevent it from rising to the level of supremacy. Director Madhesh is to be appreciated for showing concern for his country.

Fortunately, it is noteworthy that Captain is not made to wear khaki uniform or spout reams of dialogues. Except for the title, it is super that there is no leaning towards politics in the film.

Though the make-up seems to be a little high, Captain's acting is compact and apt for his character. By not thrusting his political views or propaganda in any of his scenes, the impact of the film is further strengthened.

Biju Menon in his dual role as police officer as well as a wanted national criminal has hit a double score.

Vijayakanth, Navneeth

Navneet Kaur as Vijyakanth's wife, who is all support for her husband’s goals, lends heaps of sentimental touch. As a police of Interpol, Sheryl Pinto appears more in glamour clothes than in uniform.

As soon as the story veers to the Canada section, director Madhesh gives us a flavor of Hollywood. Cameraman A Venkatesh lends him a hand in this.

The disappearance of Biju Menon on way to Chennai and subsequent scenes add to a racy screenplay. Good idea to hide the memory card in a chewing gum.

Srikant Deva, who has done well in the background score has unfortunately not given too much effort in the songs.

The director reigns in 'Arasangam.'
