'Indira Vizha'directed by K Rajeshwar and 'Anal Kaatru'directed by Balu Mahendra are both produced by Ashok K Godwani.
'Indira Vizha'hero Srikanth has heroines - newcomer Hemamalini and Namitha. Raghuvaran and Vivek are also in the cast. The cast has not yet been finalized for 'Anal Kaatru'but the music director is Ilayaraja, announced Balu Mahendra.
Without the usual pooja formalities, the function was different. The function started with dance by a young troupe. Clips from the films of Balu Mahendra and K Rajeshwar was screened and the directors thus honored made it a pleasant experience.
"For choosing 2 important talented directors, the producer must be appreciated. Rajeshwar is a very knowledgeable person. He knows the in and out of cinema. The same is true of Balu Mahendra.
The world famous Laila, who was described as a great beauty was in reality supposed to be of dark complexion with an unremarkable nose. In fact, Majnu's friends even asked him if he really was in love with such a lady.
For that Majnu responded, 'If you see her with my eyes, you will understand.'Like that, we have to see the world's beauty through Balu Mahendra's eyes. To produce two films directed by these two talented directors is like journeying in a two horse carriage," said Vairamuthu in his speech.
"I wanted to get out of direction and star a cinema school. That took some time. I met Rajeshwar then. He told me that if I became a teacher, I would wither and I should get back to directing films. That struck me as making sense. It was Rajeshwar who got me the opportunity to direct 'Anal Katru,'" said Balu Mahendra.
Others present at the function included the ex-Indian Bank chief Gopalakrishnan, director Rajkumar Santoshi and others.
Apart from these soul stirring speeches, Namitha was the next attraction. Of course, one knows why!
